A couple of days ago, Zustand v5.0.0-rc.2 was released, somewhat quietly. By quietly, I mean I didn’t make any announcements on social media. Instead, I did something unusual for this version:

npm dist-tag add zustand@5.0.0-rc.2 latest

It’s kind of bending the rules, as people expect the latest tag to point to a stable version, not an rc version. Nevertheless, I did this because we’ve had a very hard time getting feedback on rc versions. Asking people to try rc versions on social media doesn’t reach the majority of users. If I hadn’t done this, I would have ended up releasing the same version as v5, so in terms of “stability,” there’s no drawback. Anyway, v5 will be published soon unless any serious issues are reported.
