Today, I worked on implementing a new feature in Waku. I thought I had finished implementing all RSC features in Waku, but one was still missing: support for progressive enhancement with form actions. If JavaScript is disabled in a browser or the React library hasn’t been loaded, forms should fall back to a traditional POST on submission. Most of the functionality is already implemented in React libraries, so my job was mainly to connect the dots. The biggest challenge, as always, was the lack of documentation. I searched through related code in the React repository and found decodeAction and decodeFormState—two functions that handle this feature. One tricky part was that one function is for RSC, and the other is for SSR. Nevertheless, I managed to implement support for progressive enhancement.
