I've been working on hot reloading for Waku, and I’ve finally achieved something I’m happy with. Through a small experiment, I confirmed that client state is preserved during hot module replacement (HMR) of a client component and hot reloading of a server component. HMR is probably widely known and Vite does it. The term "hot reloading" is what I use, but I don’t think it’s widely recognized. In this process, the client refetches the RSC payload from the server and replaces the component tree, while maintaining client state. This functionality isn’t my work but React’s, and the developer experience it provides is incredible.

This improvement has already been merged into the main branch but hasn’t been released yet. It will be included in the next patch release.
