Jotai v2.9.0 was released with a new store implementation, which I called "store2." As somewhat expected, several issues have been reported. Most of them are regressions from previous versions, while some are expected behaviors that were never implemented before. I decided to fix one of them. Jotai core has been designed for React, and handling promises is a tough challenge. The fix will move some logic outside of the core to React hooks, namely useAtomValue. This change makes the core part more framework-agnostic.

Unfortunately, it includes a breaking behavioral change. I hope it’s rare because most users should be using Jotai through the hooks API. Anyway, it’s a big improvement, just like v2.9.0, but it does introduce some instability. If people don’t want these changes, they could stick with v2.8.4 for now, but it’s hard to communicate this effectively.
