Today, I mostly focused on developing Waku. There are some challenges, but one that took time was build options. Somehow, I noticed that the latest main branch doesn't work for Cloudflare deployment. I found import 'util';, which causes an error because it's Node-specific. Further investigation revealed it's related to TextEncoder or something similar. My guess was that some configuration had enabled a Node polyfill. However, it's hard to tell if it's due to Vite, esbuild, or Rollup. I spent hours until I found something. Initially, I looked at https://vitejs.dev/config/build-options.html, hoping to find an ssrTarget option. But, it wasn't there. I also looked into esbuild and Rollup. Not there either. Finally, I found it in https://vitejs.dev/config/ssr-options.html. Ah, there are build options in several places. What a relief. Investigating something like this usually takes more time than coding a new feature.
